COURSEWORK - location planning

The location where we are basing our 2 minute film opening is in our local town centre. We wanted  to film our video in a busy place which will help insinuate on the stillness of our character and the busyness of all of his surroundings.

DEVELOPMENT - My blog being viewed and levelled so far

Here we were given a task to view and comment and level each others blogs. The levels were out of 1,2,3 and 4. 4 being the best and 1 being the worst. I got a level 3 which I am really pleased with, so hopefully if I get all my work done and keep doing what I'm doing I will get up to a level 4.

Here is a picture of what Rosie had commented on about my blog posts:
Having feedback on my blog from another member of the class was a great help because they left me realizing what i needed to improve/ work on and what was good and successful within my blog. When looking at another students blog is also helpful because it spreads creative ideas and allows people to widen and develop their skills on blog presentation.

Here is a picture of what i commented on about Rosie's blog:
Hopefully my views and comments on what i thought about Rosie's blog would have helped her out as much as it helped me.

COURSEWORK - character profile

The character we are using and why?

The character we are using for our video is a 24 year old man called Matt Stone. We thought a 24 for our castings would be perfect for our new idea because he is experiencing growing older and becoming more independent as his character so is maybe going through a hard time and is finding things really difficult with the idea of 'below the breadline'.

Name: Matthew Stone

Age: 24 - this age suits our film coursework because it is the age range where people are starting to get serious careers and buying homes, moving away from their parents for example.

Profession: Matthew doesn't necessarily have a profession because due to the idea of our film opening and how

COURSEWORK- initial planning / final idea

VLOG FOR OUR ORIGINAL PLAN FOR AS MEDIA COURSEWORK:

                                       https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NkWwsVTTW_8

Here is a video of me, Ciara and Milly (my group in media) discussing what we had planned originally for our coursework.

During the Christmas holiday's, we went to Overstrand beach just near Cromer to film our idea, we went with the characters we needed and brought the filming accessories also. We also thought we went at the right time in order to film in the correct lighting etc, but it turns out we couldn't work out how to film with the camera we were using, therefore we took a variety of photographs so our trip wouldn't have gone to waste and we have decided to add these photos into our final piece in order to show bits of our original plan was involved.

Our new plan: (Thriller+ Drama)

New and final plan for coursework:

We have decided that our original ideas were all far too complicated so we have completely changed our plot and final idea for the last time. We were told that our original ideas were too complicated because we wanted to involve too many features in each scene, which would be near impossible when trying to round it down to a 2 minute film opening. In films, the opening scenes are usually the most simplistic but effective ways of identifying certain characters etc. So our last and definite idea is to film a boy (teenage roughly about 17 years of age) sitting in the middle of a busy place like a town etc, and get him to be completely still, whilst we would time lapse the rest, so he is the only one completely still whilst everything else in his surroundings have been sped up to look extremely manic and rushed. This can give off the effect that he is lonely or has something sad to say because he is just sat there on his own doing nothing. In the opening 2 minutes, we will also get a voice over of the teenage boy saying and talking about his life. Maybe something about his school friends or him being left out, we could even get him saying a voice over from a specific poem which insinuates on loneliness.

Our film name which we have chosen is called BELOW. The reason why we chose this name is because it links into 'below the breadline' which is a term meaning that he is poor - DEFINITION: the poorest condition in which it is acceptable to live.

So this would insinuate to the reason why he is sitting in the same place for such a long time and everyone else is busy spending money around him.

DEVELOPMENT -What we have done in media A level so Far

Video Diary:

                                    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ieSKZBvX0hc

Here is the video me and Milly Chalcraft created in order to complete the task our teacher set us. Our task was to produce the most original way of filming a video on what your own opinion was on media, how we are finding the A level and anything we have studied, and what our favourite thing to do is when studying media. Me and Milly came up with the idea to do a vlog type, youtuber video. I was the actor and Milly was the director.

EXPERIMENTATION - Animation task

Here is our group animation video of superman saving someone from a fire. What we did here was take a variety of different pictures whilst moving our playdoh characters in order to create a cartoon video. This helped us in order to widen our video skills and filming skills because if we wanted to do something similar in the future we could as we have had progress:
